I was devastated last week when the New England Regional Subcommittee on Candidacy denied my application for candidacy. I will see the reasons written in a letter in a couple of weeks. Good thing 'cause when they used the word "deny" I stopped listening. Christina says that God has shut this door because He has greater things planned for me. I will not deny that.
It is an intimidating process to become a UU minister. First a battery of psych exams, then appear before the RSCC then, once you've met all the academic and intern requirements, the challenge of the MFC. I can't tell if they are preparing ministers or excluding them. Is the process self-sustaining? Do they look for those who are different or those who share similar characteristics?
I'm hurting right now so I'll restrain from writing my real thoughts. Maybe in a couple of weeks it'll be time for serious reflection on this process.
