About Mark

I love to wander.  I often relax by getting in my car and driving for hours just to watch the scenery go by.  When I visit one of our local state parks, I’ll follow whatever trail looks enticing, choosing anew at each junction.  My father once gave me a book entitled “If You Don’t Know Where You Are Going, You’ll Probably End Up Someplace Else.”  I’ve relished discovering “someplace else.”  

My thoughts on this site are offered as possibilities, hopes, dreams.  We are on a journey together – a journey that will allow us to attain a greater understanding of the cosmos and our role in its process.  I use the first person in writing these blogs because it is the only viewpoint that I can truthfully express.  At times I will reflect the viewpoints of people I have met or authors I have read, but it is all from the perspective of how I have understood those viewpoints.  The perspective of absolute objectivity, while a worthy goal in some endeavors, is asymptotic – it never quite reaches its goal.

This website is a place for me to reflect on where I have been the past seventy years.  I will draw on old memories, journals, and remembrances of friends.  Come along if you like.  Join in the middle, go your own way when it suits you.  I’m happy you have chosen to spend some time with me. I am an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister serving as a hospice chaplain in Door County, WI.  A native of New England, I have live in the Research Triangle of North Carolina, suburban Boston, and Kansas City.  My wife and I have been married for over forty years.  I have worked as an entrepreneur, a cost accountant, an industrial engineer, and a technical trainer.  I have found what I want to be when I grow up.                                     About Mark
